School Meals

Children have the choice of having a school meal or bringing a packed lunch. From September 2023, all children  are eligible for a free school meal due to the Mayor of London’s initiative to improve the health and well being of London children.

School meals are cooked fresh every day on site in our school kitchen by a qualified chef.  We operate a three week rolling menu programme.  Example menus are available below.

Children can still bring in a packed lunch.  This should be brought to school in a named lunch box or bag.  We promote healthy food choices and therefore we do not allow crisps, chocolate, sweets or fizzy drinks in packed lunches.  Please remember that small round foods such as grapes, cherries, cherry tomatoes, melon balls etc, etc must be sliced lengthways or quartered. Left whole or cut widthways, they pose a choking hazard. This also applies to cheese cubes, blocks or similar items. We endeavour to be nut-free school, therefore we request no items containing nuts, peanut butter, humous or nut based chocolate spreads.

Fruit, Milk & Snacks

Children in Reception – Year 2 will have a piece of fruit daily at first break and milk. Children in Years 3-6 can bring a piece of fruit to have at first break – no chocolate, sweets or crisps. All children can bring a water bottle to school daily – plain water only, no juice or flavoured water.

Allergies & Intolerances

Chartwells, our school meals provider, can provide tailored medical diets for children with allergies or intolerances. If this applies to your child, please email cmcevoy@robsouth.brent.sch.uk to request further information.  To arrange a medical diet, the following information is required:

  • A completed Medical Diet Request Form
  • Supporting evidence from a GP or medical professional i.e. allergy action plan
  • Please note: without this documentation, a medical diet cannot be prepared.

If you are currently in the process of obtaining medical evidence, you can complete a Medical Diet Support Form, which must be signed by a GP or medical professional to confirm that your child is awaiting an allergy clinic appointment, review or further investigations.
